Getting Around Vancouver Port

Unlike many cities in North America, the city of Vancouver has an excellent urban transportation system for visitors, as well as local people without cars, to get around quite easily. Apart from using a rental car or flagging down a taxi, there are many affordable and convenient ways of transport around Vancouver Port, BC.

Public Transportation

Public transit includes a regular bus, the sky train, and the sea bus.

On the regular bus route, catching bus #19 on Howe Street and West Pender Street will take you to Stanley Park, and catching bus #50 on West Cordova Street and Seymour Street will take you to False Creek.

The terminal for the sky train is east of Canada Place. The most popular stops are Metrotown, Vancouver’s largest shopping complex with more than 500 shops, and Science World, which is close to the Main Street Sky station.

The terminal for the sea bus, a ferry that can transport as many as 400 people, is also near Canada Place. A sea bus departs the terminal every fifteen minutes and connects the downtown region with the Lonsday Quay area, which is up north.

The False Creek Ferry and the Aqua Bus System

Using the small blue False Creek Ferry and the little rainbow colored Aqua Bus is another way of getting around Vancouver.

On the False Creek Ferry routes some of the favorite places to stop include Kitsilano’s Maritime Museum, Science World, and Granville Island, which is close to Bridge’s Restaurant.

On the Aqua Bus, popular destinations include the area between the Arts Club Theatre and Public Market, Granville Island; the end of Hornby Street; Yaletown, which is at the end of Davie Street; and Science World.

Travel To The Capilano Suspension Bridge

Those wishing to travel to the Capilano Suspension Bridge can do so either through the public bus system or through the free shuttle system. Those wishing to take the bus from Lonsdale Quay to the Capilano Suspension Bridge should take bus #236. In addition, the Capilano Suspension Bridge authorities offer free shuttle to get there from Canada Place.

The Fabulous Vancouver Trolley

Another way to travel around Vancouver is by using the fabulous Vancouver Trolley. This has two separate routes and makes twenty-three stops. You can catch it from Canada Place. Using the Vancouver Trolley, it’s possible to visit most of the tourist sites, places like Gastown, Granville Island, and Stanley Park.
